Our Story

Where it started

A gap we kept running into.

India is not short of fragrance. It is short of fragrance you can trust. Spend enough and the good things exist. Spend a little and you know what you're getting. It's the middle — where most of us actually shop — that keeps letting people down: something that smells pleasant enough but doesn't do what the box says, or does the job while smelling of nothing at all.

Moréva was built for that middle. Considered products at mid-range prices, made so that what's written on the outside is true of what's inside.

"Some things are made to be noticed. Ours are made to be remembered."

The Moréva ethos
What we stand for

Against cheap, in every form it takes.

Cheap ingredients, cheap packaging and a cheap experience usually travel together, and between them they explain most of what disappoints on this shelf. We take the other side of it. Ingredients that do something real for your skin, materials made to be kept, and a product that behaves the way its label promises.

None of that requires a high price. It does require refusing the shortcuts that make things cheap.

Why candles first

Most gifts are gone by the weekend.

Giving is a habit here. We arrive with something in hand for every occasion, and more often than not it's flowers. Flowers are lovely for three days, and then they are thrown away.

A candle isn't. It can carry a name, it sits in the room where it was given, and it keeps working long after the evening it marked. Send it with the flowers if you like. One of the two will still be there next month.

What we make

The candle, considered

Each Moréva is hand-poured in plant-based soy wax and set in a vessel cast from concrete and painted by hand, then closed with a wooden lid. No two vessels come out alike. When the candle is spent the vessel stays — a small piece of stone that keeps earning its place on the shelf.

Add a name at checkout and it's printed on the vessel before your candle is poured.

The name

Moréva

Moréva is a word we made up. We wanted something that sounded as though it had always existed, and that anyone could say. We liked that more hides inside it.
